ATTORNEY AT LAW

Tyler has practiced law in Knoxville since 2002, making the city both his professional home and the place where he lives. Through The Roper Law Firm, he represents individuals, families, and businesses with an emphasis on clear advice, thorough preparation, and personal attention.
Raised in Nashville, Tyler graduated from Montgomery Bell Academy in 1992 and Sewanee: The University of the South in 1996 before earning his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law.
Tyler has also served as a substitute judge in traffic court and General Sessions Court.
Tyler’s experience includes serving on the trial team representing workers and their families in the Kingston coal ash litigation against Jacobs Engineering. The team secured a favorable jury verdict in November 2018, and the litigation ultimately resolved through a confidential settlement in 2023. He also represented Maszera Company, LLC, alongside co-counsel in Centimark v. Maszera, helping defeat a contractor’s payment claim and obtain a $220,374.96 judgment over a defective commercial roof. The Tennessee Court of Appeals affirmed that judgment in 2014.
Outside his practice, Tyler is a proud father of two beautiful daughters and remains close to his parents and his sister, who lives in Ohio with her husband and children. Time with family is an important part of his life.
An avid hiker and mountaineer, Tyler has climbed the Matterhorn, Mount Kilimanjaro, and the Grand Teton. He especially enjoys the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina, including Linville and Grandfather Mountain. He also enjoys CrossFit, golf, tennis, and cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers. When he heads to the coast, favorite destinations include the Charleston area and Sandestin.
Growing up in Nashville gave Tyler an early appreciation for country music, though his musical tastes span many genres. He enjoys playing guitar, songwriting, and exploring good food—whether discovering a new restaurant close to home or finding a memorable meal while traveling.
